Welcome to fourth grade! My name is Mrs. Laura Koch. I graduated from Christian Brothers University with a bachelor's degree in human development and a masters in curriculum and instruction. I received National Board Certification in 2010, and renewed my certification in 2020. I have been teaching at Richland for 19 years! I am always open to feedback from parents. I encourage you to comment on your child's work and progress not only to myself, but to your child as well. Open communication is very important to the ultimate success of the school year. I also want parents and students to know that I am human just like you! If I have made a mistake, (ex: grading work) please bring it to my attention. I am always happy to explain/help/answer questions. I want everyone to be successful!
A few non-essentials about myself:
-I grew up on the coast of Mississippi and loved being near the water.
Beach vacations are still my favorite!
-I have two beautiful children: My son, Graham, is 8, and my daughter, Alex, is 6.
-I LOVE to travel and learn about different cultures and traditions. I have spent time traveling through many countries and hope to continue to do so.
-My favorite pastime is shopping! When I can, I shop at Loft, Target, Paisley Rooster, and Dillard's.
-I like eating at Newk's, Smoothie King, Chick-Fil-a, and all Andrew Michael's restaurants.
-Sweet Tea is my drink of choice! I also love Angel Food smoothies from Smoothie King!
-I LOVE chocolate chip cookies....my weakness!
Mission For The Class
My mission for the class is to guide all students in becoming independent, organized, and motivated learners. I want students to be excited about coming to school and learning something new. Fourth grade is a challenging year. I want to instill in students the value of hard work and effort. I always stress the importance of being organized in class. Please help me by teaching organizational skills and time management at home. It will help your child keep up with the work load this year!
